demasiado

The entire group is spending the afternoon in an internet cafe and with either free wifi (with buying a drink or something else) or computers available at 50 cents an hour, it seems like this will become a fairly common hangout spot.  It’s strange for me to have so much time on a computer as these past two months, although the Gateway had wifi, I only borrowed a friend’s laptop for the hour or so it took to write and post a blog and respond to an email or two.  I wrote a blog on Amber’s laptop this morning so once that was posted and a few short emails were sent, I found myself with – get ready for it – free time con una computadora (gasp).  I’ve avoided updating pictures because of a really slow connection and it still takes quite a while to post pictures here on the blog (at least the right way) but if you click here it should link you to the facebook album I was finally able to update.

Other than give a few pics promised a long time ago, I’m not quite sure what to do with myself.  I have no desire to check the news, I’ve already read quite a few friends’ blogs, and there really is nothing else that I’ve been dying to look up.

At home I was on all the time, but it’s amazing how a type of fast makes even normal amounts of use seem excessive.  When one gets used to going without, it becomes obvious how little we really need in the first place.  As of right now, all of my clothes are split between two cubby holes maybe two by two feet?  A third has my art supplies, books, etc and the top has toiletries.  It makes the multiple bunk beds that I spread my stuff out on in Mexico seem extremely excessive and that paled compared to my beautifully furnished room in the states.

Tenemos demasiado.  We have too much stuff.  We’re told to go with nothing so we can honestly say silver and gold I have none but I have something better for you.  We have too much space, too much free time, too much to waste so that it sucks the value and beauty out of whatever is left after an apparent tornado hits.
